Changing internal door handles for handles with lock?

Hi.
I'm just wondering how easy a job this would be. I just want to replace 2 handles on internal doors with 2 handles with (key locks - probably ones that wont lock automatically when yiou leave the room - just in case).
Bearing in mind i have no tools other than a screwdriver set. I'm contemplating doing it myself or just paying a tradesman. Would it be a locksmith or a joiner?
Anyway, just for clarification.....
The doors already have handles similar-ish to this:

And I want to put the same style (or as close as possible) with with a key lock on such as this:

Thanks.

Changing the handles for ones with keyholes is easy, but what will the key go into when you stick it through the hole?!
I don't think this job will be possible without buying additional tools e.g. a drill with various bits, a hammer and chisel etc.0 -

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I could do it, but as it's a bit of a rush. I might just pay a tradesman.
Though it's not a locksmith I need is it? A Joiner? Handyman?0 -
You're going to need a drill so the bolt can go into the door frame.
Is this for the bathroom door? Maybe a thumbturn bolt for when you're in the bathroom. You'll have to consider fire safety regulations. You need to be able to get out of the room whatever door it's on without a key.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

No it's not for the bathroom. But yeah, I guess i'd need one of those that can be opened from the inside without a lock - so not a straight dead-lock but also one that won't lock automatically when you leave the room - just in case you don't have the key. I guess the same kind of lock that they have on student halls accommodation these days.0 -
Quite a straightforward job if you have the time and patience, but you'd need to buy/borrow a drill and some flat drill bits for cutting holes and a chisel or two.
The lock type you want is a mortice. Screwfix have them stupidly cheap I saw the other day on hotukdeals (£3 for one that would be well suited to an internal door).
Be aware that most internal doors of the moulded variety are quite easy to break into so don't expect to keep the crown jewels safe.0 -
If you post a picture of the existing setup (not just the handle, but the edge of the door where the latch is) then someone might be able to help more.
If the existing latch is modern tubular variety then it could be relatively easy to change over as you could just replace the handles. I've done this with door knobs as you just swap from a "passage knobset" to a "privacy knobset" (as used on a bathroom) or an "entrance knobset" which locks with a key. This is the sort of thing:

I'm not sure what the equivalent would be with lever handles though.0
