Here's just one example from the Affordable Housing range which can be used for HTB - Equity Loan;-

Hmm do you know if that one works with Help To Buy?

It is a specific affordable housing product for Help To Buy - Equity Loan cases and can also be used for shared ownership.

I presume you do mean the HTB Equity Loan scheme?

They said: "Unfortunately the longest Halifax are offering at the moment is Mar 2016. The product with the longer expiry are yet to be on the market which means we don’t know what they are and are unable to use them."

    Send them kingstreet's links! ;)

Sorry I meant HTB equity loan but couldn't see any mention of that on the link you sent.

It says it's available for shared equity, that's what HTB - Equity Loan is. As there are other shared equity schemes they don't narrow it down to just the one.

  • Great thanks Kingstreet. Will call Halifax up to find out more then pass this on to my IFA once sure it applies to my circumstances.
  • Just called up Halifax directly and they say I am eligible for that product and that my broker should be able to instantly switch me over.

Email and link winging its way to the broker as we speak...

It's heartwarming to feel I'm helping make sure other brokers are actually capable of doing their job. ;)

  • Hello sorry to intrude, but I have a similar situation whereby my offer expires 31 March 2016, and the new build is due to complete 30 April, but who knows if that's going to happen! My solicitor said we could try and push for a confirmed completion date before my offer expires, and before we exchange in a couple of weeks...not sure how easy that wiil be! So my question is could I ask you if there is a product I could switch to..and what is the process? My house is a discounted section 106, not shared ownership or equity. My offer currently is 2year fixed repayment deal for 80%ltv with Halifax. When I asked the advisors (recommended by developer), they said you apply for extension and keep your nose clean...but your suggestion above seems safer? King street your advice is welcome please.

You need to tell your broker you would feel more comfortable with a product with a 30/6/16 drawdown deadline and you want to change now, if there's one available.

It's a five minute job. Go in Halifax system, change product, re-quote and re-offer.
