Multiple address / moving home / effects on credit score.

It's been noted that moving house many times can affect credit worthiness. I am in a bit of a strange situation as I am going to apply for a mortgage in the next 3-6 months.

Situation is that I've been renting for EONS! I've lived in my current address for 10 months (shared with gf - but we're going our separate ways temporarily) and have just found a little apartment near where my new house is currently being built which is half the cost of my current address. My previous address I rented for around 2.5 years, so at the time of applying for a mortgage, it will look like I've lived at 3 addresses in as many years.

I am on the electoral role and I have kept up all my change of address details for everything and my credit file is good and up-to-date.

Is this likely to cause an issue?

  • ....in addition, I have 27 addresses linked to me in my credit file - obviously from a variety of different companies. Is there any way of cleaning this up as there are only 3 addresses there in total. Is this an issue?
  • Hi,

Assuming you don't have any other credit issues you should be fine.

The key thing is to make sure you accurately tell your mortgage adviser/broker the dates that you moved into these properties in the last 3 years.

    Good luck :)

  • I think there might be the odd discrepancy with months, but I can correct all that before I present the mortgage application.
