O/S Daily Friday 18th September 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

HH – sounds like you’ve got a bit of a plateful at the moment, everything always seems to happen at once, thinking of you x

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now just getting light, light cloud, looks dull and overcast.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit but I’ll wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was spag bol, tonight will be a bit disjointed as DH and myself are going away once he gets home, boys are staying at home. Boys will have pizza and chips or something similar. I have jacket pot and salad, DH will have something once we arrive on site.

Wednesday evening took DS2 to the Docs for an appointment, he’s had a pain in his side on and off for last 2-3 months, we can’t pinpoint the reason, it hasn’t been particularly after he’s eaten certain foods etc, so Doc examined him and says it’s possibly gall stones, I’m stunned he’s only 15 years old, and very young to have this complaint, the Doc says he’s very young for that, so I had to take him for blood tests and we’re now awaiting an appointment to go for a scan. I said to the Doc my thought was possibly rumbling appendics, he said it could also be that, so hopefully we’ll get some answers from these tests.

Yesterday was a bit of a running around day and didn’t really get that much of anything done (iyswim). I went to work for a training session that went over it’s time, then had an appointment in town, but got there early and was seen straight away, then came home and by the time I’d had some lunch etc it was time to go and collect DS2 and go for his blood tests. I did manage to get the dirty wash basket empty and had a big line full that all got line dried, want to get whatever is there today washed and line dried if weather is good enough.

Have good Fridays’ everyone x

Keep safe and well x

nmlc - Hope you get some answers for DS soon, enjoy the weekend.

Dry and bright again, yesterday's rain cleared and it was another lovely day, just a shower or 2 in the evening. Hoping we have another sunny day.

The garden waste bin was emptied yesterday so I will be able to clear away some more from the garden over the weekend. The tomato plants are done so will get rid of them, shame as the tomatoes have not ripened ........... what to do with green toms?

Ran out of energy last night after the hospice so just watched a bit of TV and went to bed early, that's 2 nights in a row I've slept right through which is some sort of record!

RR - I hope your lodger finds a new home soon, you have done so well for her.

    Enjoy Friday! Take care. XX

Judi hope your mum is ok xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning one and all. Yesterday didn't live up to forecast, we got the promised sun in the morning but by afternoon it had clouded over and felt a bit chilly. Today supposed to be fine but short on sun.

Another sleepless night for me. I bought a little book on Mindfulness yesterday from The Works but can't put my mind to reading it yet!

The post yesterday brought the appointment for Mr TA's CT angiogram, to see if the blood vessels are to blame for his inability to each much. Next Friday afternoon (Leeds yet again) so he hasn't had to wait long for that. The Oramorph before meals is easing the symptoms but it's still small meals only. With the Fresubin in between. I feel to be constantly nagging him to try and eat more, he must get sick of me going on!

NMIC I hope your son gets sorted out soon. So many illnesses on here just now.

Got my food shop done yesterday morning and the ironing done in the afternoon. Today, being Friday, is cleaning all round day. Then hopefully a lazy weekend ahead.

Have a good day all (((((HUGS)))) if you need them and take care xx

    Morning everyone.

Another foggy start, yesterday it burnt off but the late afternoon saw the rain arrive. Winter is really on the way and a tough one is forecast.

Yesterday was as quiet as I predicted until the evening when I had to make a large number of calls to students. Only spoke to ten of the 24 so I sent texts to the others saying I'd try again tonight.

I phoned my mum and she sounded really bright and well. We usually email as she's very deaf and finds telephone conversations particularly difficult, but I like to hear her voice so I can guage how she is better.

This morning I've got an appointment in town so when I'm there I'll do a little bit of weekend shopping. On Monday I'm going to Oban so will do a bigger shopping expedition then. When I go into town I try to park at the top of the 'high street' and walk the rest of the way there and pack - not that that's very far but I feel better for doing it. My sore hip turns out to be caused by the way I lie in bed so changing that has been really effective so now I can walk much more normally. Limping and rolling from side to side is such hard work!

Breakfast will be the usual porridge with a freezer dive for later. I need to take the venison leg out to defrost for the weekend.

    Right, off to shower.

I hope everyone has a good Friday.

camelot I put green toms in a warm place out of direct sunlight to ripen. Keep an eye on them though, they seem to stay green for ages then suddenly ripen overnight :D

I've written a shopping list for new clothes, it's quite short and will involve visiting a grand total of two shops :D I have a £20 gift card for one of them, from someone thanking me for being their own personal computer geek – they actually wrote that on the card, lol. I hate clothes shopping and am trying to find the willpower to get on the bus and go to town.

My neighbour has had a baby boy :T I had a blanket ready for her, but I've finished my new one and much prefer it so I'm going to give her that one instead.

I'm having a yarn day. Mr tru is home today, he'll probably be faffing with his chillis. He can take over Scampi duty. Scamps leaves my yarn alone, apart from when I've wound it into balls (once I've used about half a 100g ball, I wind it around my fingers into neat balls). He thinks they're toy balls, steals them and puts them by the back door for me to throw down the garden :D

    Morning all,

Mother is well thanks. I was with her from 8 till gone midnight last night and back again at 6am. She looks so much better and is drinking well. Her chest sounds so much clearer. I think it's safe to say I've got her a bit longer. I'm staying with her till 12 and going home to get ready for Aunties funeral which is at 1.30. Then the plan is to come home to pack a few things for this night away.

Thanking you all for your love and support..it's been appreciated so much.

    Onwards and forwards,

    Have a great day all.

  • Morning all, ((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))0 if you need one.

Its cold this morning, the sun is just peeping through, hopefully it will be a nice day, forecast for next week is dire, so I will strip the bed and wash Sunday this week.

Yesterday afternoon was a bit traumatic, went to use my mobile yesterday morning and found the battery was flat. Yes I know where I put the charger.....wrong........ended up going through the house chucking junk out whilst looking for it, could not find OH's either.

Gave up and started to set the table for supper. Went into the dresser drawer to get out clean table mats, underneath???? the chargers!! Then my phone would not start charging, arggghhhh have I really got to buy a new phone........left the plug in. Went in before bedtime and the phone was showing fully charged....whats with that then????? phew saved myself a few £'s there.

Off out shortly, going to a plant nursery near my quilting friends and then going on to see her.......

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I got woken up by the sound of the rain and wind against the window, I felt quite cosy tucked up in bed, my hubby, not so much as he had to go and catch the bus in it. It's brightened up now though and apparently will stay dry all day. I've put the washing in the tumble dryer though as I don't want to risk it.

nmlc, I had my first gallstone attack aged 17 when I was pregnant with my eldest daughter and eventually went on to have my gall bladder out at 25. My eldest daughter had hers out at 25 too after putting up with the pain for quite a few years. I hope your son gets an answer soon and the pain stops.

It's jeans for genes day at the girls school so they have all gone in with their pound coin to donate. They are all very tired though and are very happy it's Friday. DD15 is finding it difficult again but is determined to keep going in as she wants to get good grades in her GCSE's.

I don't know what to cook for tea tonight, I'm so bored with cooking at the moment. Everything tastes the same, the kids are not adventurous with food and hubby doesn't mind what he has as long as there is meat on his plate :). Never mind, I have a fridge full of bits to use so I'm sure I can cobble together something edible.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
