No there isn't. You can tell if it has been delivered as one tick changes to two, and then if they are blue the message has been read.0

Nope. The joys of "instant" messaging.
Always read your message before you send it.
As mentioned, one grey tick means the message is sent.
Two grey ticks means the message has been delivered to the recipient's device.
