blank laptop screen when charging

Hello, I have an acer aspire e15 laptop, which is a few months old. For the past few weeks, whenever I plug it in to charge, the screen goes blank and I cannot do anything. I unplugged it today and the screen returned, plugged it back in and it went black again. Any suggestions as to what this could be please before I return it to retailer? Thanks, kezz
