MSE BIG SWITCH advice

I have just arranged to switch to Eon, but my contract with Extra Energy ends 30th Sept and then I will go on to another Fixed Rate Contract. If the switch hasn't gone through by 30th Sept and I start on new rate before switch is complete , will they charge me an exit fee from new contract?

If you have asked for the new contract then you will be charged a fee.

If you did not ask for it then they cannot switch you to a new tariff with a penalty. Instead you will be on the original fix's price until the switch goes through. Or, if they do not hear from Eon, you will be on a standard tariff with no exit penalty.

A passive 'we are switching you to a new tariff with an exit penalty' will not hold water - watch your bills carefully and if they play shenanigans ask for the money back.
