Dog straining to go to the loo

I hope he's feeling better. They're such a worry aren't they? My Labrador when she was 13, she's now 15 had the same symptoms and our vet diagnosed colitis and put her on a course of steroids which helped. Let us know how he goes. They're a big part of our families.£12,432 - debt free February 2018 :j0

We lost our last flattie to a tumour, so we are concerned. As a breed they are such smiley waggy happy dogs, he is the oldest we have had (he is our third) and is such alovely boy. He has slowed down over the last year and walks with an old dog "swagger". He still engages with dogs he meets out on his walks, but more to give them advice from a wise old timer than to play chase. he has cataracts but can still see an unattended sandwich at 50 paces and is fast enough to get to it before any human can.
I have my fingers crossed that this is just a self limiting episode.0 -
'His vice is that he pulls up grass and mud and eats that, and fresh horse poo. he loves fresh horse poo.'
'Any chance he's eaten something he shouldn't have?'

Excellent news! So pleased for you. I'm sure you can live with him feeling disgusted by his change to an "inferior" diet now that you know all is well! X0
