I have read this and I should know better by now but is it true that the original OS product key changes once you upgrade to windows 10?
I think there was a mention on here but cant find it

Yes it is true, if you upgrade you'll get a new product key0

update on this
Just discovered, everyone that takes the free upgrade gets the same key,
VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T for windows 10 pro
and
TX9XD-98N7V-6WMQ6-BX7FG-H8Q99
for windows 10 home0 -
however when reloading win 10 on a machine that has previously had it installed you can simply skip the ser number entry , and the first time the machine goes on the web , the machines ID will be picked up by MS and the machine will show as registered0
