Surely you don't mind doing that one simple thing?sammieking wrote: »UPDATE 4
Hello guys, well tesco has confirmed they are refunding the whole amount directly! (well done tesco).
Next issue Tesco now claims they own car and wants us to to DISPOSE of it?
Tesco has not as yet told us how this is going to work in practice until we see the details in writing has anyone else been in the same state.
One question that begs to be answered here is if they own the car how can we legally drive a care we no longer own and if we are not insured how can we dispose of it without beeing towed away?
Look in the back pages of your local paper and phone a dealer to come and collect it. You should get some money for it too.
But don't do anything until you get the refund and confirmation in writing that you should dispose of the vehicle.0 -
lol wealdroam there lies the biggest problem, we think tesco wants whatever we get for it!!!
They have told us if the dealer gets intouch wanting his car back tell them Tesco has bought it from you!
Why oh why they dont just pick it up god only knows, if they want the cash what on earth is a fair price?
Why do we have to do all the running about, will they pay our expences and to rub salt into the wound we had to put in a new battery last friday and tesco point blank said we were responsible for any and all repairs, then first thing Monday they tell us we own the car now?
confused, we are guys?0 -
Once you get your refund and get it in writing that you should dispose of the card, call a couple of the "we buy any car" places and see if they will buy and collect it.
That way, all you will have to pay for is a phone call.0 -
Then you need to clarify who get the proceeds from the sale.sammieking wrote: »lol wealdroam there lies the biggest problem, we think tesco wants whatever we get for it!!!

If it is you, then carry on as described in my earlier post.
If it is Tesco, then ask them if your proposed method of disposal is ok, and tell them how much you have been offered before selling the thing.
Confused? Yes I am. Why on earth have you fitted a new battery in it? Are you still using the car? Is it still insured?
"All the running about?" - a couple of phone calls is all it takes. You bought the duff car, the least you can do is put in a small amount of effort to help the organisation that is going to give you a full refund.0 -

The car is still running however it might not be when the cold weather bites.
We are not ungreatful for the refund far from it but at the start of this thread the option of disposal was either going to be dealer or credit card lead, the dealer is nowhere out of business as most of their sales are in the several 10's of thousands ranges and the school of thought was, it was very unlikely that we would have to dispose of ourselves.
Right now teco owns car, thats more than fine by us, so why dont they pick it up dispose of it?
No matter what happens the dealer will surely pay heavly.0 -

Why, oh why, did you do that?
Two days before that you had told us your bank were considering the case.
Again, are you still using the car? Is the car still insured?0 -
Fair question....
Tesco until this Monday told us the car was under our ownership until their management had decided what they were going to do with no time frames, the car was used for work purposes which by the way was not cheap and we asked tesco on Friday what was going on, they told us sweet F.A so what choice did we have?
Yes it was insured but if they own it, we aint anymore as we know longer own it or do we, tesco was unaware possesion does not mean ownership and they are still clueless and to make matters worse refund has already been issued?0 -
Are you actually using the vehicle ?0

Check with Tesco's immediately whether you are permitted to continue driving the vehicle, and make sure you have it in writing. Then speak to your insurers to ensure that they will continue to cover you in this situation.
Griping about paying for a battery will be the least of your problems if you have an accident and aren't authorised or insured to drive it.0
