So what do you think constitutes as 'high end'? For the general public, BMWs are in the higher end market segment as is Merc, Audi and Lexus0 -

Higher end, lots of cars;
Toyota Yaris
basic audi with a fake S-Line sticker
noddy car
the one the Flinstones drive with their feet0 -
Its a BMW out of warranty, and sooner or later it will throw up expensive repairs. Take it back, and get a car you can afford to run. Like a Yaris.0

Thanks for those who have posted useful contributions. As for those droning on about affordability, if you require a full financial breakdown then that's fine.
For the record I earn a little over 40k so running this vehicle is not an affordability concern. What I am concerned about is the repair and which obligations lie where. In addition, the car was only partially financed to plug 'the gap' between a part ex and cash element of the sale. This was done privately with a very preferable rate (3.9% APR) and is costing me practically nothing over the short period it is financed for.
I hope you enjoy your Yaris.
Thanks again to those who have provided guidance I'll aim to keep you updated as we go along.0 -

If op wants a nicer car on an affordable finance plan then that's up to him - not everybody wants a !!!!py little car like you do just so they can sit on their high horse telling everybody 'i've never had a credit card or loan in my life' ooh la la.0 -
The car came with a 3 month 'RAC PlatinumWarranty' which has a claim limit of£300 so essentially useless for this problem which would cost around £800 to fix.
Forget the warranty. Your claim is against the retailer (SOGA) and failing that the finance company (Section 75)
If the warranty company will pick up part of the tab (very unlikely) then that is the dealers good fortune.0 -

And I hope you enjoy your 4 pot entry level BMW. I hope it is at least not minimum spec inside. Please tell me you have I-drive and leather seats at least.0
