Switch supplier whilst in debt?

Probably depends on your payment history....I have switched several times owing around £200 and have never had a problem but I've never missed a payment in my life
Be prepared though to pay the final bill within 4 weeks or so of switching.0 -
Hi we are looking to switch supplier using the collective switch , but will be able to switch from Scottish Power whilst we still owe them? we owe around £110?
Any help appreciated! Thanks in advance
When you say 'owe', what exactly do you mean? A debit/credit balance on any account is meaningless unless the account is to date - that is, based on an actual reading. If I were you, I would do a quick calculation just to make sure that the final bill will be under £200. If not, then make an extra payment to reduce the balance. Do not cancel your DD until you have a final bill from your present supplier. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. If you are on a credit meter and the bill has been outstanding for 28 days your supplier can stop you leaving.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
