Sky's 3D channel is gone

I'm about to cancel Sky tv,only intending to return if given a very good discount.
However, having bought a tv with 3D capability (chosen for picture quality and not 3D and Smart ), I considered upgrading to Family, in order to watch in 3D, should a good offer be available.
With this in mind, I decided to look at the 3D channel's listings, but couldn't find it; just an on demand choice from about 8 single item or boxed set short series, mainly on nature topics.
Looking on the Sky forum, it appears that the 3D channel was discontinued back in June, as not enough customers viewed and the only other 3D content is via Sky Store or taking a Sky Movies subscription. (ie at higher cost)

Yes thats right. 3D died a death long before Sky discontinued their live channel. On the other hand the next TV development, UHD is expected to be here to stay.0

When I was browsing Richer Sounds site the other day for large screen UHD TVs (which I can't currently justify or afford:rotfl:) I was surprised how few of the sets now include 3D. Glad when I upgraded ~ 3 years ago, I went for a non SMART, non 3D set -saved a shedload of money for the same sized screen.:T0

Good choice dave. But try buying a non-smart TV now. Its harder than people think, as the majority just have smarts built in now. And the majority of them are garbage.0

I was going for a basic with no smart or 3D, but in showrooms, the basic models (I wanted another Panasonic) looked cheap.
However,my eye was caught by the model I bought, as it has attractive brushed steel effect trim and the picture was much better than others (It has higher level something or other). It just happens to have 3D and Smart, but I haven't even tried the Smart part as I have Sky at the moment. I already have a Humax and when using that very rarely used catchup (via laptop) anyway.0 -
In my opinion thats the perfect way to buy a TV. Always go for the picture, never the smarts. The smarts can come after, if at all.0
