I woud be grateful to get some good advise from you helpful people! I just have to get the front and side of my bungalow re-plastered. No scaffolding is required. I have been quoted around £850. does this seem a fair price? I honestly don't have a clue, but I cannot afford to get ripped off! Oh yes, it is in Devon.

Thanks for the reply, I haven't got any idea of the meterage.......I will TRY!! to measure tomorrow, the render would just be the normal smooth finishWhen man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0

Hello Plasterer, as far as I can calculate the meterage is approx. 65 s.m. the render would be smooth
Please could you give me even a vague idea please. (S.Devon area)When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0 -
Something dose not add up. Quote £850, meters 65, = £13 per M2.
Should be to,
knock of old render, apply a scratch coat of sand and cement incorporating a integral water proofer , apply second coat to be floated to a smooth finish. Disposal of waste via a licenced waste carrier. Allow for bell beads and corner beads in PVC.

Hi gagita
£850 for 65 sq metres sounds very cheap to me.
I would charge a minimum of £23 sq mtr supply and fix.
break it down this way - materials for this area approx £150 (waterproofer, plasticiser, sand, cement, beads) leaves £700 say it takes 1 day to hack off and bag for 2 men. 1 day to bead and scratch for 2 men and one day to topcoat and float smooth 1 day for two men that's £700 split between 6 man working days equal to approx £115 per day per man. Maybe - not sure what wages are like in Devon, what I do know is day rates around by me (Cheltenham are £200 a day)
Hope this helps0 -
Thank you so much for your very detailed reply Plasterer, I do see what you mean, and will take that into account when I have a word with these people. Its a bit of a minefield when you haven't got the foggiest what you are talking about !!When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0
