Spain to UK cancellation

Hi All,
I have booked a flight with my wife from Malaga to Bristol with Easyjet, on Friday 25th Sept, a one way trip. We are currently at our holiday home, and need to go back because my mother is having a major operation on Tuesday 29th Sept. My question is; Can we take out a policy that covers our needs to cancel our flights should the hospital say they cant operate on that date for any reason, ie; no bed available, surgeon ill etc.
Thanks, Tiddy

I don't want to say that it's impossible because I don't know the wording of every policy out there but I'd say such a policy would be very hard to find. Usually insurance will reimburse if you are prevented from travelling which won't be the case even if your mother's surgery is postponed.

This could be one of those occasions when it is worth paying the extra for a flexible ticket.

Probably cheaper than an insurance policy to cover such an event!

  • For all the cost of the flights it could hardly be worthwhile

It isn't an insurable event but it's probably worth checking with Easyjet to see if you amended the flight before departure to another date if that would carry just a change fee rather than you lose the lot.

An EasyJet standard fare ticket is changeable, for a change fee plus the fare difference if any. If the new date is far enough ahead there is unlikely to be a fare difference.
