Telephone for Mums Annexe

I have recently moved my 92yr old mum into our house and created a separate annexe for her.
Quite rightly she would like her independence so I want her relatives etc to ring her direct.
Sharing our phone doesnt work as sometime she will pick it up and it will be a crank call etc
Next I tried a mobile , supposedly designed for the elderley and she hasnt managed to work it out as its small and has those mobile phone quirky operation which at 92 she finds difficult.
So two choices it seems to me, install a new BT line at £99 plus £18 per month which seems ridiculous for the number of calls she gets
or some sort o way or 'easily!' transferring a call from our side of the house to hers
Anyone got any advice
thanks

VOiP?
If you have a reasonable BB speed get a VoIP account with its own local number.
Plug an ATA (analogue telephone adapter) into the BB router (may require running a Ethernet cable to her part of the home), plug a normal home phone into the ATA.
Can be PAYG or bundle of inclusive calls from around £6 per month, no line rental, just initial ATA cost and maybe installation ancillaries.0 -
I agree, a VOIP provider would be one potential solution assuming you can get an internet connection in the Annex. I use Vonage which costs about £7 per month for inclusive calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers at any time. £5 delivery charge for the adapter and a £10 activation fee. They initially assigned me with an 03 number but for about £2 I changed the number to an area code that covered my local area.
And TopCashback will give you £42 too!0 -
How about BT Call Sign?
One line, two different numbers with different rings. You answer if it's your ring, Mum answers if it's hers

£3.15 a month I believe0 -
Thanks for that but mum bless her heart would end up picking up the wrong line..but thanks for the option0

Don't dismiss Call Sign - you can get adaptors and even cordless phones that will only ring if relevant number is dialled. The downside? If you are on a call and she picks up, it becomes a 3-way call, and that might be confusing0
