Cheap way to block cat flap hole

Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help. We moved our cat to my parents' house after her brother was run over on our road. We have a microchip-activated cat flap in our back door which is currently unused as we have no cats. My parents have an ordinary cat flap and since our cat moved in have had other nelghbourhood cats helping themselves to their hospitality...
So we want to give them our microchip cat flap. Problem is, we have a glass door. If we go back to the original glass we will have to pay a glazier to uninstall the glass with a hole in it, and reinstall the old glass. Is there a cheap way we can remove the cat flap and temporarily seal up the hole? We will be left with the glass adaptor:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004Q5PK8W/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_Rti-vb5S8K8K4
Can we buy a small piece of glass / plastic / other to fit inside? I really don't want to have to get the glass changed as at that cost we might as well buy my parents a new microchip cat flap (~£70) and we are planning to brick up that door at our house early next year and replace with windows. Just seems like a really waste of money. But my parents (and our kitty!) equally can't cope with the feline intruders...
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any wisdom

As you are planning to get rid of that door 'early next year', just bolt a bit of painted plywood in place and seal with whatever mastic you have around.0 -
Plywood... Actually we have some of that lying around from a DIY project last year... Thanks! Can you help me to understand exactly how to "bolt in place" - sorry if it's a stupid question but it's our first house and very new to this DIY malarkey.Cleared my credit card debt of £7123.58 in a year using YNAB! Drill holes in each piece of plywood to line up with the existing holes in the plastic.
Paint the plywood pieces if necessary to protect them from the winter weather, although if it only has to last a few months painting might not be necessary.
Get two bolts (with nuts and washers) the right diameter to fit the existing holes in that frame and long enough to go through the two pieces of plywood and the frame and a bit more to allow for a washer and the nut.
You may want to seal the wood to the frame with some mastic, at least on the outside, before bolting the assembly together.

Using gaffer tape inside and out would avoid the technicalities of nuts and bolts.
Waste 3 minutes here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGambACMCRg0 -
[STRIKE]Two sheets of whatever (plastic sheeting, plywood, steel), both slightly larger than the hole. Bolt or screw one to the other and tighten onto the glass. You could seal them with mastic for a better seal. For fun [/STRIKE]
