Am I entitled to lone parent benefits?

Hi, I'm due to have a baby in December and am still with the baby's father. However, we don't live together, so am I classed as a lone parent? I feel a bit cheeky claiming that I am since I won't really be entirely on my own. If I'm not I don't see what benefits I'm really entitled to as I've never worked (was at university and recently left). I'm living at home with my parents so will this affect the amount of money I receive? Does being classed as a lone parent mean that the baby's father will have to pay child support? Finally, we are applying to be put on the council housing list, will this affect whether or not I'm classed as a lone parent? Sorry if this is a stupid question but any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

until you live together, you will be classed as a lone parent

I'd recommend that you speak to the benefits advisor at your local CAB who can advise which benefits you're eligible for. I'm pretty sure that if you receive certain benefits such as Income Support, then the CSA will be informed and will look to the baby's father for financial input to offset the benefits you receive.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Hi
My daugther is due her first baby, (my first grandchild) in 4 weeks time !!!
She is living at home with me, as her boyfriend lives away and is finishing his apprenticeship this year.
My daughter was worried about the CSA as her bf is very suppportive and between them and both families, have mananged to get just about everything they need. Anyway, she rang the benefits people and they didn't even ask about the father, maybe this was because she said she was living at home with me?!?
She is getting around £45 a week, I'm just wondering if there is any 'help' I can get as I'm struggling to keep my head afloat at the moment.
Situation is:
Recently divorced, took on the family home, mortgage
1 son at home working full time (pays £30-£40 per week board)
1 daughter as above, I don't take any money from her at the moment, tho she realises she will need to give me something, I just feel as tho she can't afford it.
So basically, can I get any help?
Son is 23 and daughter will be 21 in November

She should be getting income support of around £50, child benefit of £18 a week and child tax credit as well ( not sure how much)- of course this is once baby is born0 -
alwaysskint96... (sounds like me !!)
I will look into what she may receive and see what housekeep we can work out.
Thanks for your help0 -
you can claim as a lone parent but you will have to declare his details for child support and any money he gives you has to be declared to the dss, wouldnt have thought having a joint application on the housing register would not class you as a lone parent.shiningplanets wrote: »Hi, I'm due to have a baby in December and am still with the baby's father.
