Getting a super king size mattress up the stairs - with photos

I want to upgrade to a super king size bed. The frame is no trouble because it comes in pieces and is built by the delivery guys but I want to make sure that the mattress 6'6" x 6' will fit up my stairs.

I called the company and they said if I can fit a 6'6" metal tape along the route without it bending then I'm alright but my stairs aren't straight so how can I tell before I order?

Here are some photos of my hall. The height of the opening at the bottom of the stairs is 7'6".

Thanks for any ideas/suggestions/words of encouragement.. :D

In my opinion, it would go. The two bits I'd measure for certainty would be: the top photo, top of handrail to ceiling, and bottom photo ceiling between two downdrops to stairs, to find minimum distance.

I'd expect it to go up head-first (maybe at a slight sideways angle) on the bottom section, then straight over the handrail at the top.

Great, thank you very much. I will measure those two bits and report back.

I agree. I think it will go, as per daftyducks suggestion. You'll probably need 4 guys (or strapping women) to assist.

Right, the drop at the bottom is 7'6", the space between the top of the bannister and the ceiling at the top is 4'10" and the width at the top of the stairs is 5'10".

The company I'm buying from promise to deliver and erect so it's up to them how many women it will take.. ;)

What is the measurement from the window wall to the base of the railings on the landing?

A pair of zip-link mattresses removes the problem, & they're easier to turn.

7'2" - What do you reckon?

It's an idea if it turns out it won't fit. Thanks!

Looks easy peasey - lots of options.

They are a bit bendable - and unbreakable. Looks to me like you just need to get it so far and then there's plenty of room to "hoist it over the top if needs be".

I have worked in a house very similar to yours and am confident it will fit.

The 6' width needs to go up through the first set of stairs then pushed up slightly so its vertical and then turned over the landing railings.
