Money Exchange for Travel

Hello,

My friend planned to come to the UK, but we need to know something about exchanging money, would it be wise to exchange Euro for GBP in his country (Slovenia) or it is better to do it here in the UK ?

Any suggestions welcome .

Alternatively, assuming he has a bank account & card, what would his debit card charge him to use over here?

Even better, if you have any other friends/family/colleagues heading off to Europe you could set up a deal.
