Santander mortgage application process step by step.

Hi currently applying for a mortgage through Santander, does anyone know the step by step process?

Our situation we are hoping to buy our rented property from our Landlord.

Phoned bank Santander, had initial discussion, was sent forms which we filled in and returned.

Then received call from Santander to book a telephone interview with myself was told it could take 90 minutes.

Has anyone been through this process i assume this interview is instead of a face to face interview, what am i likely to be asked?

Am i close to getting a decision?

Thanks

If you haven't had the interview then I don't think you've even officially applied. Sounds more like you have an AIP and the interview will be to submit the full application.

All sounds horrendous. Why not use a broker and cut out the 90 minute telephone interviews?

If you haven't had your interview you haven't even applied yet!

I thought you were asking when the valuation would be done or something like that!!!

I'd be surprised if you get away with 90 minutes, I got a client from them as they said it took 3 hours and then they said they had to do another one a few weeks later

    You what!?

What in the hell were they asked over that timescale?

Supermarket bill breakdown? Why they didn't take the BOGOF offer that week in Tesco instead?! ..

Seriously get a broker, don't go Rambo on the most important debt of your life.

  • Broker is our second choice should this not work out, telephone interview is tomorrow at 09:30, we have already sent off our wage slips and filled in initial forms.

I am assuming tomorrows interview will be my formal application, from that i'm hoping we will receive a decision.

You won't receive a decision tomorrow. The person who calls you will not be the person making any decision.

By the way - Is your landlord contributing to your deposit?

No idea, I couldn't keep an appointment going that long if I tried!

All I know is that the were read a very long disclaimer about interest only 4 times!

I understand the Nationwide interview is scheduled for 3 hours too, was speaking to the rep about it earlier today!

  • No landlord is not contributing to deposit.

    Indeed!

Gawd, well they're welcome to all that! I might even give my broker a tip based on that... :rotfl:
