CIFAS mess up

Hi all,
Bit of a tricky situation here...
I live separately from my girlfriend but see her daily is the background info. About 3 months ago she smashed her phone completely so, as I have a work mobile I can use for personal stuff I gave her mine and she has used that until her upgrade is due.
About 10 days ago she applied for a capital one card and was accepted online. Today, as she was wondering why she hadn't received a pin so she called up and was told that her application had been declined and she needed to check her credit file. She logged into noddle and saw capital one have put her as a cifas marker 02 victim of possible identity fraud...
Meanwhile today I have had a letter from capital one saying that due to their internal lending policy they had immediately closed my account and I am required to make payments. My noddle account says it is locked so I will need to send off for my credit report but this all seems a huge coincidence.
As far as I am aware my girlfriend can send them her passport/driving licence and say 'it was me who made the application' and force them to remove the marker? What about me though? Do I need to wait for her to complete her actions before I take action against any potential CIFAS marker against my name (guessing it won't be a victim one). I also think I'm fairly hard done by with the account closure to be honest (I can only assume it is to do with the shared phone number and potential fraud) I am guessing this won't have a chance of being reversed even when my girlfriend confirms she made the application herself?
Are there rules against sharing phone numbers?
Thanks for reading.

No. But the sensible thing to do is never divulge your mobile number to financial institutions.0 -
OP - Yes a letter to 02 explaining you are the one who applied for the contract - enclosed ID and ask them to remove the marker. Really Capital One should have requested ID from you rather than closing the account - I think that's what CIFAS rules says. But its easier to refuse application rather than going through ID process.
If CIFAS not removed - it will remain on your credit report for 13 months. After that it will be automatically removed.
Might be best to write to Capital One explaining CIFAS entry and provide ID to them and see what they say.0 -

No but if that's the only number that you have for the both of you. Then potentially raises a number of issues for them internally. Particularly as so many services are now online. No doubt their systems are constantly checking for such occurrences and they are simply following protocol to protect themselves.0
