Firstly a couple of questions . . . How did you learn about this plumber? Was he recommended to you or did you stick a pin in the yellow pages? Are you happy (other than the price) with him and his work?
Now, in answer to your question, no I don't think you have been ripped off! (Assuming of course that you're happy with the job) I get the impression that you were expecting to be invoiced for only 15mins labour? I'm afraid it just doesn't work like that. A vast majority of tradesmen who charge by the hour only charge by full hours, especially on small jobs, otherwise it just wouldn't be worth the hassle of getting the tools out of the van.0 -
It's the head, it has snapped. I did not think the job was going to be that quick and simple, I think he just replaced the head. He has done some work for me and he is very reliable and I am happy with his work. I see your point jayjar66. I think they must all have a minimum charge for small jobs.0

Its academic now. You have paid him.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Pretty reasonable head alone can cost between 10 – 30 each? With the net customers often say “They only cost x at x “ but are oblivious to the fact it has to collected from x in someones time ? That x retailer /wholesaler may not have them in-stock, Have a branch near for Tradesman to purchase, Tradesman may not have an account at x which means paying upfront( customers like even less doing that ), Or that at x they may have to wait half an hour to be served meaning higher overall job cost time ?0
