Migrating from Windows Media Center to Kodi

I’m hoping someone can help me. I’ve decided to migrate from Windows Media Center to Kodi for my mymovies.de collection but my head has fell off doing so. Is there any sort of definitive information on how to do so for the following?

I have the NFO files in each folder do I need to remove the original files that Media Center was using to display the picture arts etc…?

What settings do I need to have on Kodi to display the synopsis etc…

How do I get the Movies displayed Not In List Format (I have purchased 2500 points)

How do I get my TV Series to pull across with synopsis?

OR

Is there something I am completely missing or should be doing differently?

The Movies & TV Series are view-able so I seem to have linked to my Home Server okay. I just want to get the information displayed to mirror somewhat that I have on Media Center

Can anyone help please?

what sort of machine are you intending to run kodi on ?


android , amazon fire , apple etc etc


and where are your films/media stored

Wouldn't you be better off with Plex for what you want to do?

They link together just want to improve the way it looks etc

if the movies are in mp4 format , you go to vid/add files , search and load the directory , make sure they are set as vidios , then you add , after which a new tap appears on your menu bar called movies ,left click and update libary , menu setting to the left allows viewing choice


the films will be checked by the IMDB database and info added


out of 650 here ,it only fails to catalogue one
