Electricty Meter Denial by BG

Hi folks,
Has anybody ever come across a problem such as this?
I will try to explain as clearly as I can.
I moved into business premises in November of 2014 and was supplied the last electricity bill from the premises current supplier British Gas by the landlord.
On the bill is what they call an MPAN number.
I called BG and took over the supply.
I have had various problems with BG which ended up with them paying compensation, but that's not the issue at the moment - I am trying to get away from BG but I can't as there are apparently 2 meters here that are "related". I only pay for one.
On doing some digging I have found that there are two meters here and the "other one" is still registered to a company that was previously here (2 occupants before the last one) if that makes sense.
British Gas deny that the other meter even exists when I asked although a rep comes and reads it separate from the other one!
I don't have the MPAN number for the other meter, just the meter number.
How am I going to get round this? Has anybody got any ideas?
Heeeeeelp!!!:(
Oh and I have tried with British Gas before anybody asks and got nowhere,,

Sorry, I don't really understand what you are claiming here.
If I understand you correctly, BG will not allow you to switch your buisness electricity supplier because they are aware of a related meter supplying the property.
But then you say BG have no record of any related meter.
Anyway, what I suggest you do is ring the local electricity distribution company and find all the MPANS (and their related suppliers) supplying your address.

Try phoning British Gas Business, for the business one.Very common to have a business meter alongside a residential. BGB is a different set up to the residential side and you can t just switch to residential without proof its no longer a business. I could read the BG residential meter one day and come back two weeks later for the business meter. Both of them could be messed up .BG muck up both, just like all the others suppliers do.0

Sorry, thought that this might be a complicated one.
There are two meters here. One is registered to me and has been for the last year. The other one I know nothing about although I can physically see it.
We are in a stand alone building and there are no other tenants, just us.
I have asked BG to come and check the meters but they said that there is only one here (their records presumably) and there is no need - I have asked and asked and they have refused and refused saying not necessary.
What with all the previous problems we have had with BG (getting £4000 bills etc) I wanted to change to a new supplier.
When this was tried, it wasn't possible as the current meter (I have the Mpan) is somehow related to another one - what a surprise!! so its not possible as the other meter belongs to somebody else registered back in 2008.
I asked BG to un-relate the two meters and they said...... wait for it...... "What Meter????"
Grrrrrr.
So I am stuck and really fed up with all the tooing and frowing with BG customers services who read from scripts.
My problem is that I think that the only way to solve this is to progress a complaint about BG again, but if I do this it takes ages and will take me past the contract renewal date and I really really want to get away from them.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "related ".Eco 7 meters are related when they have two meters, one for low rate and the other for normal. Is the other meter active , any units advancing ? I work for BG, Scot Power and EDF as well (G4S ) so you may see the same reps reading for different suppliers. The other meter could well be EDF/Scot Power or even one of the smaller businesses such as Haven Power.0

No.
One meter is connected to a Radio Switch and is used for the Heating in here (The one that is now in my name).
The other one is linked to everything else in here, lights, sockets etc (the one they say doesn't exist) It does spin and go round and count up - yes.
G4S believe it or not, come in every month and read the meter (the non existent one) but not mine.
In the last half hour I have just had a BG engineer come in here and say they are looking for a missing meter!!! LOL!!! "Ah found it he says" then went away. He said couldn't give me any info, something to do with data protection bullS**.

Sorry, but that neither explains my confusion as I expressed in post#2, nor why you have elected to ignore the advice I gave there.
But I see you've come up with an alternative proposal to resolve the issue.
Good luck!0 -

For get using the other meter (in your name) for heating, just connect a load of panel heaters to the free one. If BG say it doesn't exist, you cant be billed.:D
