Companies House

I wasn't sure where to post this question as it doesn't fit categories. Please ignore if my question is not in the spirit of MSE.
My home address has been erroneously put on a company listed at Companies house. The company was dissolved some years ago. I have nothing to do with the company.
My address is being passed around websites for all to see. I wanted to stop it but it seems I can't.
Companies House says if the company or even the Police contact them they can't put the correct address on their listing and they can't stop giving out incorrect information as they are obliged to do so by law. They also can't tell me who they have given my address to (some of the websites have no contact details) because its against the data protection act and they also don't keep a record of who they give this personal information to.
Companies House say, if I want to complain about the Companies Act then I must write to an MP. I really don't want to get involved in that. I just want my address off these websites. The websites say they can't remove my address unless Companies House tell them to. Vicious circle.
I guess I have to accept I'm stuck but it seems very strange to me. Does anyone know if this really is correct? Am I missing something here?

Can you find out who dissolved the company? as they may have the power to contact companies house. Is is true that normally only director or official representative of said company can change the details etc.0

Good idea, I'll try to find out.
Even so, I got the impression Companies House won't change the address because the company is dissolved and that's a kind of snap shot in time that they can't legally change, even if its wrong.
Still you'd think they would stop sending it out now.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

direct them to their own advice
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/reporting-fraud-about-a-company-to-companies-house/reporting-fraud-to-companies-house
you should get in touch with Companies House if you have concerns that:- a registered office has been changed without the company’s knowledge or consent
- an individual has been appointed as an officer without their knowledge or consent
- a company name has been changed without permission
- an unauthorised address is being used for a registered office or officer’s service address
if you are talking about a historical record, before you lived there, why does it matter.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
Hmm. I don't know that it is a fraud. Certainly an error. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
It was partly before I lived here and partly after till 6 years ago. But the reason I wanted to do something is that my address is being supplied by Companies House to websites who sell addresses and I'm getting approached by post by companies wanting to sell me stuff.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

if the companies had any intelligence, they would use upto date mailing lists.
All you can do is mark them return to sender, and tell them (the hawkers) it is a residential address, and ask them to remove your details from the database and stop pestering.
The companies house information is historical on the record fact, if the company is listed as dissolved, it's dead.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0
