No pay rise? Blame the baby boomers' gilded pension pots

The real issue is the economic system that creates inequality.
Yes, rewarding those who pay attention at school and who are prepared to work hard. The inhumanity of it!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

I agree with your first sentence. The sarcasm is quite pathetic.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
I think he is trying to point out the problematic outcome of communism in practice.
Quite, but then he mentioned the subject in the first place. Communism is an irrelevance to the original post which was about fairness between generations and whether final salary pensions were to blame for all that is wrong with society.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. For a begin, please observe that many 'baby boomers' do not have last wage retirement living techniques...0

Does it tell you something about some of the people on this forum that the only response to someone questioning the direction this country is taking is to imply they are a communist.0 -

lol Sapphire. You just thanked a bot who repeated an earlier post.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

UK - I was not calling anyone a communist. I was simply referencing a post by Mistermeaner which pointed out how communist/socialist ideals often fail to work in practice. Please don't put words into my mouth.
I don't favour any "isms".......left or right......they all are open to abuse - they all fail in the end.
Both global capitalism and state communism are as bad as each other.
There is no such thing as equality and there are no level playing fields.
I don't have any answers so don't ask me to supply any.....:rotfl:
I was simply commenting on what is......
I have not visited Venezuela yet but having listened to my new rellies and what they have told me about their country I do feel very sorry for them. Apparently those that can get out are doing so, especially the young and well educated. Apparently the young are leaving in droves.
Like many on here I do Sometimes despair of the constant boomer bashing - Lord knows what anyone thinks they can achieve by playing the blame game.
The media has a lot to answer for.
A few lazy hack journalists - usually Middle class and middle aged - pen a few poorly researched and Ill thought out "think pieces" and LO and behold (some) of the younger generation start seeing themselves as victims of oppression.
The ones who are capable of Independent thought have the wit to look beyond the hype and see the bigger picture but some do fall for it, hook, line and sinker.
Like one poster posted earlier in the thread - It is a classic tactic of "divide and rule"....keep the mob fighting and bickering amongst themselves and they won't turn on those in power......
And for anyone who thinks a new left wing government will usher in a new era of prosperity and fairness for all should just take a look at what happened during the Blair and Brown administrations.
It was not exactly a golden age.......0 -

My post was not directed at you more Mistermeaner because I can't see any logical reason he responded to Bob's post as he did.
I agree with most of most of what you say although I wouldn't call the Blair government left wing.0 -
No I think you are right, I think Blair described himself as centrist, whatever that is supposed to mean.....:rotfl:
He was always droning on about "the third way".
I think he rather saw himself as President Blair....
Yep, you've got it - can't stand the man. Sanctimonious old fool.
Mind you this lot aren't really much better. Just more of the same...
Having said that the post of PM is a bit of a poisoned chalice - I defy anyone to make a good fist of it.
Come back Guy Fawkes - all is forgiven. :rotfl:
On a more serious note what sickens me is the lies, the spin, the cover ups, the greed and the corruption. They all seem to be as bad as each other, no matter what colour is in power.
I guess it just proves that old oxymoron - "honest politician".
I could just about stomach the sleaze and the lies if they were half way competent but they all seem like buffoons. Left wing, right wing - there's nowt to chose between them.
Ooh aren't I the old cynic.
Hey ho, I guess we are more fortunate than some countries - it could be much worse.0
