I was banned from PayPal two years ago. They didn't provide a reason.
Now that PayPal and eBay have parted.
Is it still necessary to use PayPal to use eBay?

They banned you and didn't provide a reason? I don't believe this, sorry.0

I think the split has in reality made little difference. You still need to provide PayPal as a possible payment method. Could change in the future though now they are not shackled.0

It could change but I think it unlikely with the current way ebay sells itself. The idea that you are completely safe on ebay means unless paypal can be replaced with a similar 100% guaranteed service they will stick with it.
OP, you will get pm's from people telling you how easy it is to set up and use a new paypal account by changing a few details. One word of advice, don't do it. Paypal will almost certainly not notice for a while, then one day when you have a business going, money in paypal and sales to ship they will suspend you . It is not worth risking trying to get back on paypal fraudulently, best to try and sort out what went wrong before and get the original account reopened.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Part of their split was a five year agreement for Ebay to have at least 90% (I think, may have been 95%) of payment by Paypal. Any less and they get a 'fine' any higher and they get a bonus.I think the split has in reality made little difference. You still need to provide PayPal as a possible payment method. There's not going to be much difference as far as sellers are concerned. The two companies are still very close, it wouldn't surprise me if Ebay eventually became a Paypal company.
I'd echo Soolin to sort out Paypal, it's the best way to do it if you want to sell on Ebay..0 -
You don't need a Paypal account to purchase from eBay, just use Guest Checkout.
Have you looked into getting your Paypal account restored?0 -

Paypal account closed 2 years ago with no reason given and a Natwest account closed 4 1/2 years ago, again with no reason being given and that Natwest account received a payment from your Paypal account shortly after you opened it.

Did you check your credit reference history around that time to see if there was anything dodgy flagged up against your name?0 -
TK Peters you are right to mention buying. I just assumed it was for selling, yet OP doesn't actually say that.
OP as TKPeters says you might be able to use a guest checkout if you don't use the same cards you had registered on your previous account, but be aware the buyer protection is slightly different.
You can also use other payment options if seller has them listed, like a cheque or bank transfer, but again be aware you have no protection at all through ebay if you do so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
