Low cost water supply/sink for garden office

We are in the process of buying a house and hopefully will be moving soon. The house is smaller than our current one and we wanted to compensate for this by installing a garden office. I'm going to need a water supply/sink there and I'm wondering about low cost ways of doing this. I was planning to run a hose down down and connect it to a tap/sink. So providing a water supply doesn't seem to be too problematic. Just wondering about what to do with the grey water. I don't mind having to empty something once a week, for example and thought may be there would be some kind of tank I could use to collect it? Only needs to be about 10-15 litres. I'm assuming there must be something like this used in caravans? Any ideas?

It's not expensive to lay a 25mm MDPE pipe from your water supply to an outside office.

The most difficult job is to dig a trench from the existing incoming main or the back of the house to the site of the outside office. I would go for 2 feet deep and allow the water pipe to be laid in sand. This way it is unlikely to freeze during those cold summers we have nowadays. If you can do this yourself then getting a plumber to make the connections should not be expensive.

As far as the waste water is concerned, your idea sounds fine. However if you are near a foul drain it may be cheaper than you think to effect proper drainage. A lot of older properties that would have had outside toilets do still have the drains that served them.

Thanks for that input. With regards to soil pipes, there is an old outside toilet which we are planning to reinstate. However this is just behind the house and we want to place to garden office at the bottom of the garden which is around 60-70 feet long. The house backs onto playing fields. Is it likely that the waste pipes will come anywhere close?

How long is a piece of string?

From what you say there is not much likelihood of drains being close but have a look when you get there.
