Last year, the PO changed our address because it was the same as that of another property about 150m away.
The situation had only existed for 24 years.
Although our property was built, named and numbered first, we had to change because the other house was one of fourteen.
Despite the change, the local authority, which made the original request for it, has persisted in using the old one.
The postman, who knows everyone in the village never had a problem in the first place. Van drivers were less efficient. Even now, if something from the internet doesn't turn up, I check the wood shed in the house down the road!0 -
The most important reason for "doing it right" is that the 999 services information is updated, so they know where the house is.0

We bought our house 20 years ago , never liked the name and intended to change it, but somehow never got around to it !
You learn to live with it ...0 -
Be careful changing names. It's amazing what some people think is an attractive name for their abode.
'Windy Ridge' comes to mind here, as well as 'Cobblers' and the appallingly realistic, 'It'lldo.'
My local favourite, almost bound to add a few thousand to the asking price, is 'Little Shanty.'
The road to the rear of my house is called "Windy Ridge." Several of the houses are called 'Windy something' I can't even remember the names, need to go for a nose.Sell £1500

Land Registry representative - forgive my ignorance I assume that once the change is made in the land registry as it all electronic any title deeds (whoever stores them) will be updated too ? So wouldn't need to pay a solicitor to change these also
Thanks

I used to drive past Nikitas House, My street, Salford. On my way to work. Always thought it would be great to own a house on that road and call it My house, my Street.0

Once we are notified we update the electronic land register so no need to pay a solicitor to do the same thing
The land register is a database but it's not used by others re confirming postal addresses - businesses/shops for example will often rely on Royal Mail for that“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Land Registry. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -

We asked the same question about a place we stayed at in Spain recently; turned out that it too was based on two names; the owners' kids, Eva and Gonzales... so they called it EGO with absolutely no sense of irony0
