    You still receive a paper certificate when your vehicle has passed the MOT test but the fact is also stored on-line so DVLA knows that your vehicle has a valid MOT certificate.

    Plus the fact that your existing paper mot certificate shows the VIN number which is also in the system no matter what your registration number may be.

    All of this was the case when I completed my transfer (May/June this year) and I was given a new MOT certificate.
