FF is harder to master (as you point out), which is why I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to newbies.
Isn't it more (but not entirely) a case of getting used to though - i.e., if newbies didn't know about IE & started out with FF instead?

In other words, they'd find it just as simple/challenging to use if they'd started out with either. G

and so, it would appear "horses for courses", I'm inetersted to see that Lindens wrote:-I changed to FF only yesterday,, as I have a new job on an adult text site ahem... and was advised FF was quicker.
I haven't used it for that purpose yet, but so far I find it quicker than IE7, the screen is crisper and works more smoothly.
Maybe, if you've been surfing today, you might like to give an update on your findings as I'm sure you will have been giving it a test.

I've personally not noticed any difference in speed going from FF to IE7 except maybe it uses less RAM than FF.

I moved from Mosaic to Netscape Navigator to Comunicator to Firefox. I can't see the point of using Internet Explorer when Firefox does all I need.

Well funnily enough, logged on to my site for the above purpose for the first time and it said i must use the latest version of IE - lol. So obviously the information i was given was duff, having said that I am sold on FF, we have 2 computers at home with different spec and on both FF is quicker, sharper and crisper. So in all instances when I can i will use FF.
When i went from IE 6 to IE7 i was floundering and quickly switched back, Then I tried a few others, Avant to name but one (who my OH switched to and has stuck with) but went back to IE7 and just spent ages fiddling around with the settings as i don't like the tabs much.
