O/S Daily Thread Sunday 13th September 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Beautiful blue sky and sunshine here this morning - not sure how long it's going to last though, forecast is not so good for later.
DH in the bath, DS1 still in his pit, DS2 making himself so brekkie and I'm enjoying first cuppa of the day whilst on here.
Visited both sets of parents yesterday, after a lay-in so by the time we got back it was very late for lunch, I fixed us something very quickly and then we had dinner at 6.30-6.45pm ish, dinner was pizza, roasted herby potatoes, HM coleslaw, chicken dippers, onion rings and salad. Lunch today will be roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, yorkshires and gravy.
I do need to make some sort of menu plan for the week, but DH will be late tomorrow night so I'm thinking I'll do a casserole in the slow cooker then I can just cook the veg and it'll be ready. Tuesday night can then be an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Today will just be very chilled, I'll be going for a shower shortly, but first will have another cuppa and some brekkie, then will prep the food for lunch, organise pack ups etc, then once we've had lunch this afternoon I can chill as we'll be ready for the coming week.
Have peaceful Sundays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone. Thanks for the thread nmlc.
After yesterday's horrible weather it's back to blue clear skies again. I'm off down to Glasgow again later today as mum's having more investigations at Gartnavel tomorrow. I'll also go to Costco to stock up on supplies for the winter - I like to have plenty of loo rolls and kitchen towel in stock and need batteries for all the torches (one in each room).
Yesterday was very quiet, didn't go out at all. The torrential rain and gales didn't look inviting. A neighbour dropped in with two pieces of venison for me which was lovely. They are in the freezer so I'll deal with them next week.
The red squirrel is still coming in every day to raid the bird feeder. It's such a pleasure to watch as it wraps itself round the feeder, hanging on by its little feet.
Right, day needs to start. I hope everyone enjoys a good Sunday.0 -
Morning all
I managed to catch up on my sleep last night so feel much refreshed this morning. I will throw myself in to the housework after breakfast!
Yesterday wasn't as wet as promised so I managed to get more washing dry & I cut hubby's hair.
Today, after housework I will be mixing up some samples of 'Sleep Mist' DD2 keeps being asked to help get babies in to a bedtime routine & the mist helps..
Have a good day everybody.

Gers I love that you have a visiting squirrelI miss my visiting partridge, he disappeared during mating season and I haven't seen him since. The people over the back have a pear tree so I like to think he's over there with a little family, lol.
Our council have sent letters out to inform us of their goals in 2015. The letter might have been more useful in JanuaryWe have a new list of what must be recycled, put in the food bin and put in the black bin. I had a good think about our rubbish - if I stick to the rules, the black bin will be almost permanently empty. A lot of rubbish can now be recycled, but they won't pick it up, they want it taken to large bins at supermarkets (I never visit one). They seem to think that lining the food bin will prevent flies and maggots. Who comes up with these daft ideas? There will be checks to see if we're all following the rules. Not sure I'd want that job, especially as water companies want tampons etc. put it in bins and not flushed down the loo. And what about dog waste? Not mentioned but must be OK for the bin, as nappies are allowed? Not sure they've thought this through, lol. I have an old broken hairdryer and I have no idea how I'm supposed to get rid of it.
Our walk lasted about 10 minutes yesterday – Scamps was perfect til we stepped off the drive, lol. He kicked off at four things and got worse with each thing so I turned around and marched him back home. He was in a grump for the rest of the morning
Mr tru is off to a chilli festival so I have peace :TI'm just pottering about today and will speed through the last few rows of my blanket, I'm determined to finished it today – don't think I'm going to manage it though

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Bright morning, DD2and SIL moved the furniture round yesterday, so now need to get used to things being in a different place.
OH brought my breakfast in, we have fruit and croissant on Sunday, so an easy breakfast. I use a Tin of Morrison cheapest pineapple chunks and mandarin oranges, it lasts for 2 Sunday's, put half in a container in the freezer for the next week.
Pork for supper tonight.0 -
Morning all
mucho excitement here we had a normal day yesterday and I had just gone up for an afternoon nap and was looking on FB when I saw the most adorable dog who was desperate for a foster home, she had been placed with a lady the night before but she (the dog) was too exited for the woman and kept winding her dog up, the only alternative was to put her in kennels for the night but last time she was in kennels she was so distraught that she ate the wall and the rescue place thought she would do herself some damage during the night.
I made a call to them and within the hour she was here, she is terribly under weight and has a skin condition but she is the most adorable girl, she has huge separation anxiety so I am not sure how it will work out long term, but for now she is safe and warm, she has really taken to my dd, and follows her around, she slept on the floor in her bedroom last night, she is very clean in the house and asks to go out for a wee.
We are not sure how old she is around 5 - 7 we think but must have been through some sad times in her life to make her so needy. So today we need to bath her and flea treat her and cream her sore spots and we will take her for a walk and see how she get on, we are not sure what 'make' she is but there is some English bull terrier in her and maybe staffie. Her name is noodles but it doesn't suit her, if she stays (if she likes us enough and we get on ) we will change her name to Milieu, which is French for 'Middle' we have had little dog and she is the next size up
Not a lot more will be done today although I will cook a roast and she can have the scraps, she desperately needs feeding up.
Have good days all xx
Mrs LW Thank you xx
Will try to post some photos later if I can work out how !0 -

"if she stays"
Hmmmm, not sure 'foster' and 'if' are the correct words to be honest - you've fallen in love with her already, haven't you?Bulletproof0 -
Brilliant stuff REDRUBY, brilliant stuff, well done that little girlie, be happy pet!!! she'll end up as Millie won't she?
Good Morning all, we've been up to the boot fair this morning where there was lots of stuff I didn't want to buy and a couple of things I did. I got the Zebra some little cars to live in the toybox here, every time I've got some before they've gone home with him, bless him and I also got a lovely retro wall clock for Zebras mumsie which she'll love. I hope it will go on the kitchen wall when they've moved. We're both walking the Cookie Monster this afternoon and planning to do a nice long walk up the river and through an old wooded park run by the council perhaps 5 miles or so, she'll sleep well tonight. Loving having her to walk and she shared a couple of little doggy grins with me yesterday just like Docky used to do, made me smile.
Cold sausage pie for lunch and macaroni cheese for supper and some ironing to do in just a mo so have yourselves a nice day all, specially that new little doggie in RRs life, Lyn xxx.0 -

There are pics in this thread - post 647 onwards.
He is a delight. Hours have been passed watching him though he only stays about 20 minutes or so each time.
I seem to be stuck watching the Great North Run on TV - I can see our previous apartment which is only 800 yards from the start. We would go out and watch from the front and could see both the bottom layer and the upper level too. Great memories!0 -

I'm going to finish clearing / cleaning the kitchen cupboards , I did some of them yesterday and now I have a sore knee probably from kneeling down , so I'll see how it goes today
If it stays nice I'll do a bit of tidying in the garden

I have fallen in love but keep telling myself 'she in only in foster' she has such separation anxiety that it worries me because we are all out during the day, she will go to my FIL's so wont be alone, but I keep thinking there maybe someone who doesn't work that might be more suitable ?
Anyway we will seewatch this space
