Hi
I need some advice on towbars. My oh has a vs caddy maxi 2011. We need to get a towbar fitted to pull a small 2 berth caravan.
We phoned one firm and they quoted £280 to supply and fit the towbar and electrics. The other firm said £280 at first then said we would need to pay for a Volkswagen part to upgrade the electrics and if we didn't do this we could have potential problems with electrics and the ECU in future. If we go ahead and get the upgrade it will cost £400 to have the towbar supplied and fitted.
Can any one shed any light on whether we actually need this upgrade or not?
Thanks

Contact PFJones about it .... Great people - But it would be advisable to get it fitted ..... Reasonable price too . Supply only would be around £340 from the below site for a detachable or £250 for a swan neck (Includes dedicated electrics).... Anyone reasonably handy can fit them , so worth doing yourself ?

Does your car have a bulb failure monitor? Does it have stability control or ABS that adapts if towing? Do you have reverse sensors?
If yes to any of the above then you may need a trip to a dealer or a specialist who can set it up correctly.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

It does have a bulb failure monitor. I will contact a specialist tomorrow, thank you for your help.0 -
Bulb failure system will probably require a bypass relay if you dont opt for the dedicated loom.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
