Anything like a Santander 123 for a student?

Daughter has just bought a house, will have lodgers so income stream, and utility bills to pay, so went to open a 123.

Nope, sorry, not with occupation "student", so back to square 1. Anything similar that doesn't discriminate based on occupation?

They say "student or in full time education", so no joy.

Santander do a Student 123, but no cash back on utilities, cap on £2k for 3% interest, and the only freebie is a railcard.

If her prime objective is to get cashback on utility bills, it's worth keeping an eye on what Natwest/RBS may be announcing in the next couple of months or so. They currently do a 3% cashback for their premium accounts until the end of the year but there has been talk they would bring out a cashback account for 'normal' account holders before end of the year. Whether they'll offer this account to full time students remains to be seen.

If her objectives are to earn interest on her lodger payments, there will be other accounts that pay better interest than the Santander 123. Mind you, they will also all be aimed at anyone but students.

I am not sure a student who is also a landlord could only be described as a student as they aren't just a student.....think outside the box 'n stuff.
