£200 high risk investment

Why don't you stick it in the Fidelity Moneybuilder All share index fund, choose the monthly savings plan and add £50 a month to it?
In all honestly, I'd like to reiterate my advice to wait until you have a bit more capital before trying investing. It's just one of those things that is very difficult to do well without significant capital because of the limitations put in place by the brokers and the buy/sell spread or initial costs.
To be perfectly honest, if you wanted a really high risk "investment", you might as well use the money to fund a few online poker games and see if you can make a little money in the long run. At least that's a fun way to lose moneyI am a Chartered Financial Planner

If your gonna buy a company share in anything you need about 1Ks worth to make the dealing price insignificant enough to make it worth while.
BTW we cant recommend shares in a company or fund because by there very nature there is no telling what will happen. Any hot tips you must treat with a pinch of salt and are usually aimed to plug dealers own vested interests.0 -
This is the siliest thread ive read in a while £200 high risk investment. You aint gonna do much investing with 200 quids worth of anything.
Unless you won the lottery on a penny share but i think youd have better chance of winning if you bought 200 quid of lottery tickets.
Agree but perhaps the poster is used to having pocket money of 50p a week and £200 no doubt would seem a very large amount to him.0 -
Guys, thanks again for all your input. To those who seem slightly offended by my question, I appologies. But as Mable has wisely identified, £200 pounds is actually quite a lot of money to me. As you can tell by my name, I am a student and have worked hard for my money over the summer. Most of which I have saved for an engagement ring, which I am sure you can appreciate is well above the £200 I am looking to invest. I only posted this thread because the £200 I gained in matured bonds was what you could call disposable income, and instead of throwing it away on clothes or other material goods, I thought I would do the sensible thing and invest it. However, it seems my options are limited so will just keep it in my websaver account to gather a little interest. P.s if I did have more money it would be going straight into proprty/ies and gather money that way.0

I wouldnt clasp property as an investment.
It is the sensible thing to do but its just that unless you set up your own ebay business with it its not really of use on the markets.
Nothing wrong with savings and building savings, and if your a student youll prob just need it to live off. Just take all the MSE advise get the best accounts for your situation and try and avoid spending money you dont need to and go from there. One day when you have money to invest,m research the markets and see what companies or funds you would like to get into.0 -

If you have "worked hard" to make £200 in a whole summer and now plan to waste it on an engagement ring you are obviously in need of more serious assitance than this forum is qualified to give you. Oh, but hang on... You also said "I recently received £200 pounds through matured NS&I childrens bonus bonds..."
So you either have £400 or you are lying to us... OR as I suspect you are deliberately wasting the time of people posting on this forum and taking the !!!!...

stogiebear, I think you maybe missunderstood my post. I have saved over £1000 for a ring which is why I then said "Most of which I have saved for an engagement ring, which I am sure you can appreciate is well above the £200 I am looking to invest." The £200 I have is from matured bonds, which is almost free money, hence the high risk investment I am asking advice on. I am not trying to waste anybodies time, I can assure you that I have far more worthwhile things to be doing during my lunch hour than pester people on a forum. I am sorry if you have got the wrong end of the stick, but I think your reaction was unmerited. Re-read my post and you might understand better what I was saying.0
