Hi all. I am a virgin customer of 4 years and have just lost a loyalty discount I had for the previous 12months and virgin front line calls team predictably said they can't offer big discounts blah blah so passed me to retentions after I give my notice te leave but they have not offered me anywhere near as good a deal as I had last year, I am starting to get nervous as my notice expires in just over 2 weeks and as yet I have no plan B as I naively thought virgin would move heaven and earth to keep a loyal customer.
I am on the big kahuna sports bundle TV XL with tivo and 2 additional HD boxes I also subscribe to premier sports and get BT sports, basically we have everything but movies. Other services are landlines on talk weekends and 150mb BB.
For the above we were paying £70 pcm with our discounts but have now reverted to full price at £120, if virgin do not offer an acceptable deal my bluff will not be called and I shall be looking for new providers for TV and BB but we do not need or use the landlines so that can go.
What I will need is something similar to tivo in my main room which has a HD and is capable of handling all the above sports packages and the usual free to air channels and a provision for unlimited fast and reliable BB.
The problem is there are such an array of deals and possible combinations of providers that my head hurts when I research my predicament and I could use the expertise I know I will find here. As I have been married to virgin and have been completely loyal in our relationship I am out of the dating game and don't know the current movers and shakers.
Over to you, what would you do in my position?

Compare their offer with what you could get with others. Sky, BT, TalkTalk etc. Do you need all the channels you have at the moment?
You will need a landline to receive broadband if you leave Virgin, but I understand that Virgin's broadband only price is almost the same as the broadband/landline package anyway.
BT Sport is £20 extra on Sky, so that would need to be added on unless you move broadband to BT.
Don't pay the headline prices, try a live chat to see if you can get any additional discounts. Although Sky have currently got a 50% off for new customers anyway so you probably won't improve much on that. Also, go through a cashback website for a potential bonus.
Oh, and forget loyalty. We as consumers can't moan about loyalty from companies when we are happy enough to jump ship for a better offer (and rightly so). There is no such thing as loyalty in business!0 -
I am edging towards BT broadband with free sports
Maybe I should try one of these android boxes I keep stumbling across on various forums etc. I know the legality is a grey area and I would not want to break any laws, could anybody explain the actual legal position?0
