Which digital TV/Film sites allow you to download?

Hello, I'm wanting to purchase a TV series online. However many of the major retailers seem to have done away with the option to download the video to store on your computer, to avoid having to stream it/buffering every time you want to watch.
Some let you download to store on a tablet/mobile but not PC. Or only a PC with Windows 8 or later, think that may have been blinkbox.
Becomes very expensive if I have to upgrade machine or new OS just for the privilege of actually owning a TV show I've paid for!
I think possibly itunes allows a download, but you can only watch via itunes. Is that correct? Are there any other alternatives?

no , xbmc/kodi/TVMC uses addons to go to sites and watch films or TV0
