Completely agree.
Those that need to will incorporate and go back to profit based rather than turnover taxes.
But the reality is, with rents rising this quick, just a few years of rent inflation will compensate for most of the tax loss anyway.
Problem is the direction of policy. If the conservatives want to reduce BTL (and increase owners) there is a lot more pain they could inflict on BTL
One would be to just not count finance as a cost and not give a 20% 'credit'.
But there are far more powerful tools and one I'm very reluctant to post about as it would in my view totally kill new entrants into BTL and would very likely see the sector shrink by maybe 100,000 rentals a year (BTL owners always sell and some buy currently the buyers outnumber sellers so the rental stock is growing but if this change was made the buyers would stop but sellers would continue resulting in a rapidly falling rental market. I can PM you or post about it on the other place we both now seldom frequent if you are interested)0 -

i think only a fraction of those complaining will actually liquidate and leave the market.
Even if they do, their tenants will need somewhere to live, so no more housing will have been magicked out of thin air.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Very hard to debate such a cogent argument.
That gem of wisdom convinced me.0 -

If you want to see the saddest people on the planet just pop over to House Price Crash Forums ..... I visit to have a chuckle at the same old losers saying the same old things as they were 8 years ago.
In the meantime their lives are on hold waiting for a crash that won't come and are wasting all their money renting with zero chance of being able to retire in their own home - condemmed for ever to rent even in old age.
What a sad, lonely, life
In the meantime, back on planet earth ... my properties are doing so well that I will be able to retire in the lap of relative comfortBringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
HPC's not allowed any more. Government policy to use all means available to keep prices rising as that way we all feel warm and fuzzy and content (if you have a house).0

Please remember to keep us updated on rent rises in Aberdeen Hamish, it will be fascinating to watch landlords passing their losses on to tenants who no longer have high paying jobs.0
