age discrimmination at interview?

NB: I was talking about perceptions which people may have of you, so it is not a set-in-stone thing.Out of the present day loop? (Erm not for my profession Im not)
Well apparently you are if you don't know a word which they were expecting you to know, suggesting that you may not be up to date with current literature or research or methodologies.Unwilling and inflexible? (Speak to my boss)
I have no doubt that you're flexible and willing in your current job!! You sound like a hard worker.
I mean unwilling and inflexible in terms of adapting to new changes which may be necessary in your field, but which may not be required of you in your current role.Unwilling to change? (spent 4 years working abroad 5 years ago temped for many years in various different professions)
Links to the previous point. Again, I have no doubt that you are a hard worker BUT that doesn't necessarily qualify you for the job on offer.Omitted details about the interview and the answer may lie there? (How much info do you need?).
Well, an applicant can be declined for any number of reasons! They have stated a reason for you being unsuccessful. If you want to speculate on possible ageism without concrete evidence then you also open yourself up to the possibility that another unknown reason may have caused the rejection. Maybe they didn't like the color of your hair? Or the size of your nose? Or maybe you seemed "overqualified"?
You've basically done 2 + 2 to get 5; they asked for your ID and they rejected you because you didn't know a word. That doesn't necessarily add up to ageism!!! You are probably the one most bothered about your own age here! I actually think you are right to be bothered, because at 62 you should be displaying how up to date you are with the current methodologies or literature in your profession (ie LEARN THE BLOODY WORD THEY EXPECT!). Only after then can you even CONSIDER speculating on ageism....The OP is not yet an OAP and has a nickname so use it. I only asked if the forum could see if there was any age discrimination. I didn't come on here to be labelled and insulted by age discrimminationary posts! Yes I have self examined and yes as far as I am concerned the interview was ageist.
It is a sad state of affairs if you believe that I was discriminating against you!
I just think that you fluffed the interview, and didn't deserve it based on merit. I also think that your age played a role, but only in the way that you approached the interview.0
