Dealing with unhelpful customer service regarding potential fraud matter which is the latest in a series of poor experie ces with my bank. I've been contemplating a switch the past couple of months but have put it off as my boyfriend and I are saving for a deposit for our first house and I've read you shouldn't switch if you plan on applying for a mortgage in the near future.

Can someone please give me any more advice in this matter? Thanks in advance.

Switching banks will not resolve your current fraud issue (I assume).

But may affect your mortgage application.

so resolve the fraud with your current bank, then get your mortgage, and then review your banking and switch if you wish.

There was no actual fraudulent charges or reason for concern in that area. My reason for wanting to switch banks does not concern this matter at all but rather the abysmal customer service relating to it. This is merely the final straw in poor customer service that has made me want to switch.

Taking this particular matter out of the equation and basing the decision purely on wanting to switch bank providers my question really was is it or is it not advisable to switch banks 3-6 months before hoping to apply for a mortgage?

Then take step one out of my response!

Thanks. I know that is the sensible option, it just made me angry at the complete lack of customer service.
