Success in appeal to private parking company.

With a big grin on my face I would like to say thanks for this wonderful resource for those of us who fall foul of private parking companies.

Spent hours reading advice, posts, links etc and eventually decided to write to the landowner using the address on the Parking Pranksters Website. Following this, I then sent an appeal in the form of the template on this forum. I then sat and waited. About ten days later my letter to the landowner was returned as "not known at this address". After a little research I found another address for the landowner online and sent the letter there instead. More waiting until this evening.......and an email from Smart Parking saying they have noted my points and have cancelled the ticket.

During the wait, I used the ticket as an excuse to re-visit the car park to take photos as evidence, should the issue go further. I'm not sure what the visitors to Fistral Beach in Newquay would have made of me taking pictures of signs, spaces, entrance etc while the car park was packed to beyond capacity. What is for sure, I am certain that there will have been many others getting tickets over the Bank Holiday weekend as they queued to get in and out of the site. Hopefully they will not roll over and pay up, but do some research first and hopefully come here before making a decision.

I am still not sure which route ended the situation, the letter or the appeal. Either way, thanks again to all who have contributed to this forum and helped me have the confidence to make a stand.

Glad to hear of the success story.

I think the landlord is getting a bit sick of complaints here (it's made the papers a few times too), so I suspect they have demanded it be cancelled quickly, especially if it sounded like you knew what you were doing.
