Economy 7 Off peaks
Options
Hi,
hope someone can help me in this forum. I just moved in a flat which has storage heaters, water tank with immersion heater and Economy 7 meter with radio teleswitch.
My supplier (e.on) said the off peak time is from 12:30 to 7:30am. However, I tried to put our storage heater on (through the off peak switch on the wall) and it comes on at 11:30 at night. Also, I tried to put it on again in the morning and it remains on until 7.30am. Does this mean that I've got 8 hours of low rate energy?
My supplier says that is set for only 7 hours and even if it comes on earlier they have not interest in checking it (they would if it was more than 2 hours slow). What I don't understand is, are my off peak switches working correctly? am I paying 7 or 8 hours at low rate?
Thanks for your help

https://customerservices.npower.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/179/~/what-are-the-economy-7-peak-and-off-peak-periods%3F shows what the timings are for the different regions. Some areas have an hour or so then off then back on later to make up the 7. Have you got a mechanical timer or a radio switch ? As long as your heating and water comes on with the suppliers timer - and not a separate one - and runs up the low rate meter don't worry how many hours you are getting as it will all be cheap.0

I'm in the east midlands and my economy 7 times are 0130-0830 BST. It would be so much easier if on the bills or online accounts it stated what the econ 7 times were.0 -

Can t help you regarding why the low rate was active at only 11.30 pm. Maybe a meter fault because radio teleswitch run timers are the most reliable. The old analogue circular timers are the least reliable, the 7 hours low rate could be anywhere.0 -
I'm in the north west and it is a radio teleswitch, not mechanical.. I'm aware that the meter clock will move forward in winter but 11.30pm at the moment is just out of the range.. is it really possible to have 8 hours of off peak??0

HiYa dorynicol, you get a minimum of 7 out of 24 hours cheap rate, yes you can get [meter dependant] more and no I've never known anyone get less allowance. It really makes little difference what start stop times they send you - you will always get at least what you are contracted for. best of luck.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
