Cash Machine Malfunction, didn't dispense money

I tried to withdraw £50 from a cash machine 3 days ago and the door jammed while the money was being dispensed and no money came out. The money was, however deducted from my account. It was my last £50.00 and I still haven't got it back. The Halifax says wait 2 days but it is now 3 days. The loss of that money caused me significant disruption. I don't have a lot of money so how do I get this sorted out?
The company operating the machine are obviously a joke because I (and other people) have had issues with this machine before.

Yet you continue to use it?karljt2013 wrote: »...I (and other people) have had issues with this machine before.0 -

Isn't there a system that automatically refunds the money in the event of a malfunction? In any event when the machine is reconciled and the balance £50 more than the expected balance the bank should be able to identify where that came from pretty easily.0

They also have cameras so they will need time to check all possible scenarios.0

Also you always believe something like this will be fixed.
I had this type of problem once where the cash got stuck and the dispenser closed before I could reach it. The bank returned the money because all ATM money is accounted for and scrutinised.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Hard to believe in this day and age particularly with the amount of retailers who can do cashback.
And if there's often a fault with that cashpoint most places take cards as payment anyway, even most night clubs and bars I know now take cards so if a cashpoint has a known problem with the points I've listed above I really can't see why the op keeps using it.0 -

There was another poster on here once, went by the name of Money-Saving-King. They had this odd habit of assuming that just because something was the case for them, it had to be the same for everyone else too. So they'd have been firmly convinced that because they worked in a supermarket that accepted cards and had some cash machines, everyone else in the world would be in exactly the same situation. They were completely unable to see that things might be different for other people.
Still, in the end thankfully they were banned. Wonder what happened to them?0 -

It may be hard to believe but it's a fact. When I lived in Kingston on Thames they closed the local HSBC which left only Barclays with an ATM. Then they closed that branch so no ATMs and the local traders didn't do cashback. So it was either a long walk or bus ride to get to the nearest and sometimes even that wasn't working. Take note of ThumbRemote's sensible post.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
