Berin Real Estate - Whether to invest or not

I am an expat and have no plans to return to the UK anytime soon. I have recently come into some money - circa. £140,000 and would like to invest it into property with a 25% mortgage or so. The two options are:

1) to buy a 1-2 bedroom apartment close to my parents in East Sussex and rent it out; or
2) to buy an investment property in Berlin with a reputable one stop agency.

Any thoughts on the above options? Anybody bought an investment property in Berlin?

Thanks,

I wondered just the other day before we would start seeing German Property scams. I know you are not scamming anything but it would be an easy scam to pull off as inexperienced investors will think that supply and demand is going to change a lot in Germany in the coming years.

As for your question, its hard to give an answer as we dont know your tax regime or the other alternatives that are open to you.

Plus the fact that the German government are quite active with rent controls and similar.

Which makes it straight-forward for landlords to increase rents regularly.
