We are about to purchase a property and want to shop around for best energy deals but when I go on moneysavingexpert website I have to put in previous details i.e. meter readings etc. but of course I don't have those. This property has been occupied so it's not absolutely brand new, just new to us ! How can I get the best energy supplier deal without putting in all the information requested on your website?

Also, I wish your web site offered 'on line' chats - maybe it's something you could mention to Martin ?

Many thanks & regards,

Just put average figures of 3300 kwh electricity and 14000 kwh gas into the comparison site to get a general idea of who may be the cheapest.

Remember, when you move in you have to register with the existing supplier and give them your opening readings.

Most, if not all, comparison sites allow you to compare even if you don't know your anticipated annual consuption in kWh.

    Take another look :)

It won't give you such an accurate cost estimation, but will put you on the right direction.
When you have annual kWh figures available, do another check :)
