Have a look on Google for any independent game retailers local to you who would sell second hand games.

Maybe this link is of use to you http://www.retrocollect.com/Articles/the-ultimate-retro-gaming-store-locator-a-shop-list-with-map.html
  • Assassins Creed 1 was a bit........weird. Many describe it as a technical demo for Assassins Creed 2 which was incredible, with a lead you could really get attached to.

That isn't to say 1 was rubbish, it was just......very repetitive at times AND some parts were a bit I guess bugged. The fighting system at times just didn't work turning some fights into a "hard game" - not that this is a bad thing but it's frustrating when you're doing something right but it doesn't work the way it should. It is doable though, and the scenario and location is sublime.

If you like 2, you could always try Brotherhood (Many people like this most) and Revelations (Some say it was getting old by then, but the location is again beautiful, and you can avoid the STUPID tower defence game by being careful to reduce your notoriety when buying shops).
AC3 was rubbish and nearly broke the series, Black Flag very different and some say the best of the bunch (I disagree though hehe).
Good thing about all this is though - you can pick these up now for absolute peanuts. Pay over £5 and you've paid too much.

Mirrors Edge - if you like games where you have to jump/move at exactly the right split second, otherwise game over then you'll be ok, but it's very cheap for a reason - I wonder how many screens have been smashed over this frustration fest.

If you like the Hong Kong fighting scenario, then Sleeping Dogs is worth a buy. You do though have to really get used to the fighting style, you can't just button mash in this one. Many say it starts off too hard and ends up a bit too easy. Get past the mission Club Bambam and you're sorted, in fact get past an early mission involving a warehouse near a dock (You'll know it when you see it) and you'll be ok from then on. If you find it a bit hard, go seeking out the shrines which increase your health, this turns it a bit easier I guess. Well worth a bash, after all, a man who never has pork bun is never a full man.

Red Dead Redemption is incredible, but it's definitely a game where you experience it rather than "beat" it, it really is rather easy except for a couple of missions involving shooting from trains, where you have to sort of be quick on the gun - and even these won't take you more than a smattering of attempts.

Oh and do consider Far Cry 3 (not 2, that's bad and they don't follow on in anything but name, they are completely separate). Granted the lead you play isn't really that likable unless you like spoilt rich American gap year types, and the whole story is pure cliche, with some racial stereotypes thrown in (In fact these are so bad they must have been tongue in cheek on purpose), but the whole atmosphere of the islands is great, you get sucked right in and it feels quite an achievement to liberate areas. It's one of those games where the best bits can be unscripted, the time a bear turns up and helps you clear a camp, or where you lure people into a trap then get eaten by a shark.

Good call on getting a 360 anyway, if you've never had one, it's a golden age of gaming, the games are so cheap but just as good as their release day.

Ah ok (I am new to all of this DLC stuff), so pointless to buy GOTY unless new then really, unless there are extra levels/maps included on the disc.

as mentioned, it all depends on the GOTY.

Some companies just put it all on the disk so buying second hand isn't an issue others supply 'one use only codes' to download it.

From my experience though most GOTY editions tend to have it on the disk.

AndyBSG's list is basically Xbox 360 heaven, but I'd like to add another nod for Alan Wake, especially if you liked LA Noire. It's a wonderfully absorbing game, basically a playable Stephen King novel.
  • +1 for GTA5. Be warned though, you'll spend hours on it! Should be able to pick up a 2nd hand copy for about a tenner now.

Burnout: Paradise City(A bit old now but it's a great game)

    Civilisation Revolution
    Tomb Raider
    Bioshock
    Alan Wake
    Super Street Fighter IV
    Mortal Kombat
    Injustice: Gods Among Us

That lot covers most of the big games on 360 and a wide variety of genres.

Game Of The Year editions are generally better as they include all the DLC

Agree with these recommendations, also Dragon Age (Origins and it's DLC was amazing, 2 was meh, very copy paste but still okay I guess and inquisition is pretty cool and it is available on Xbox 360, although keep in mind two DLC's for inquisition are not available on the older PS3/Xbox 360 platforms), Kingdoms of Amalur reckoning was pretty cool as was Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, I actually prefered many of the quests in Oblivion to Skyrim and the Xbox version had achievements (if you care about that sort of thing) and pretty cool DLC, very cheap now as well although the PC and Xbox versions had extra add ons not included in the GOTY I believe but can be purchased cheaply from the marketplace. Imo it was almost as good as Morrowind.

Neir is also worth a look and I enjoyed Wet.

Regarding GOTY editions, some have codes for online passes and DLC that had expiration dates and one use only, some games have it on the disk as said.

  • If you like RPG then The Mass Effect Trilogy + DLC has a brilliant story line in my opinion
