Late payments on report for 7 years and 180 days??

Hi all,
I had a default and a couple of late payments from back in 2008/9. My defaults have now come off my report which I'm very happy about. But I'm now reading that the late payments will stay on for 7 years and 180 days. Is this true???
If so I'm shocked and surely I would of been better of defaulting on the account 6 years ago?!?!
My Equifax shows last serious payment problem N/A (defaults now gone after 72 months as I thought) and It shows last payment problem 75 months (6.25 years). All for all for less than £10. Gutted!!

Accounts that aren't defaulted drop off 6 years from the settled date. Defaulted accounts drop off 6 years from the default date.0

Well that's what I thought. But I'm 3 months past 6 years and they are still there. I did a quick Google which is where I got 7 years and 180 days. See link for Screenshot.

Ok I think it 7 years and 180 days in the USA. I n the UK it's 6.....It will come off later this month. Sorry if I gave anyone a scare....lol0
