I need to replace the black ink cartridge in my Epson xp-202 printer but as the original ink cartridges are so expensive is it worth refilling the cartridge or should I go and buy a non oem refillable ink cartridge.

Both will work but just going for a pre-filled compatible cartridge doesn't risk ruined clothes, carpets, furniture, and fingers that look like you've spent some time with Inspector Knacker checking your prints. That assumes yours isn't one of the models with nobbled firmware that only allows genuine cartridges to be used. If compatibles are on sale you should be OK.0

Compatible will work absolutely fine. There is no difference in the ink, just the brand name.Total Debt Left: £14,843 / £23,954

Depends on the value of your printer. We had a bad experience with some Tesco compatibles on our previous Epson printer which meant we had to replace it, but we'd only spent £70 on the printer, and had it a few years, and we'd used Tesco compatibles with no issues previously. Our current printer, fortunately, is pretty cheap to get the genuine article, but I wouldn't be bothered cos it only cost us £60 to buy the printer, and we've had our money's worth from it. I would generally say - originals if they aren't too expensive, re-filled genuine cartridges from a decent shop, or new compatibles. I wouldn't get refilled compatibles - not even sure you can.0
