Diverting calls

Thank you Ypaymore! Both are ideal for my needs, and much better options than I was able to find for myself.

They don't charge you anything for moving. And why would they? It is a service somewhere on the Internet. You can access it from anywhere in the world. I doesn't matter to them where you are.
You only should change your address in your account so they can share this information in case you dial an emergency number.
In some of the talks I've had over the least few days, there has been mention of a 'nominal fee' for when I change address, and I'm sure that a £6 admin fee was talked about at one point. I know £6 is neither here nor there, really, but I'd rather not spend it, if I don't have to.0 -

Do you mean this?5. Cancellation
...
5.3. If the customer still has credit in his / her account at the point of cancellation, sipgate will reimburse the customer on request, to the value of the credit balance, minus sipgate's processing fees of 6.00GBP. A refund is not issued in the case of the balance not exceeding 6.00GBP.
You don't need to cancel your account when you move. Just change the address in your account.0 -

Sorry - I missed this message. I can't for the life of me remember which company it was, but they definitely said there was an admin fee for each time I wanted to change my landline. I know that £6 was mentioned, as I remember doing the calculation that 6 moves would equate to £36.0 -

You still don't understand how VOIP works. You don't have a landline with Sipgate. You only need a working Internet connection to access Sipgate. That Internet connection might require a landline on your end, but Sipgate doesn't know and doesn't care about that. You could be in Timbuktu and still use it.
The telefon number you get looks like a "landline" number, but Sipgate doesn't give you a landline.0 -

If you use a VoIP provider and an app on your phone there will be an impact on data and battery life, there however will be no cost to pay to the VoIP provider as the call is not being transferred.
And if you just let the call go to VoIP voicemail you get a text or email message letting you know there was a call, which you can deal with at your convenience later.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I only wish they had the same services like they have in Germany. There you can port in any telephone number from any provider. I guess they have other regulations there (OFCOM, are you listening?).
Sipgate no longer offer porting in on their free Basic product (they used to).
It's still available on their commercial Team product. A commercial decision, not Ofcom regulation.
Other VoIP providers can also port numbers in. A fee of usually about £25 applies.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
